Sarah was in Baltimore on Monday when the conviction was thrown out. A motion for the judge to overturn it was filed by prosecutors. Evidence pointing to "alternative suspects" was found by the defense team after a yearlong investigation.

According to the New York Times, Syed's trial could have been different if prosecutors had handed over more evidence. The state no longer has faith in the conviction, according to prosecutors. They have 30 days to make a decision on a new trial.

After spending 23 years in prison for a crime he said he didn't commit, the reversal of his conviction is a long time coming.

The integrity of the legal system requires accountability for not only Mr. Syed's wrongful conviction but also the pain the State's conduct caused to the family

There are recordings from inside and outside the courtroom in the latest episode. The legal history of the conviction, the state's motion, and Syed's journey are all explained in the report.

"I do know that the chances of the State ever trying to prosecute Adnan again are remote at best."
- Sarah Koenig

Adnan's case wasn't good. It's a mess. In the episode, Keonig says that they were where they were when they stopped reporting.

Someone is going to be put back on the case. Someone will try to speak to the two suspects. I don't know what would happen with that. The chances of Adnan being tried again are remote at best.

There is a new episode of Serial that is now available to listen to on a number of platforms.
