The Los Angeles Lakers added some depth at the point guard position with the signing of Dennis Schrder. The new arrivals are not expected to make a difference to Russell's role.
Ramona Shelburne said on Monday's episode of NBA Today that they still see Russell Westbrook as a starting point guard. He was a former winner of the Most Valuable Player award. He has received that respect.
According to reports, the Lakers signed Schrder to a one-year deal. After playing 61 games for Los Angeles during the 2020-21 season, he returned to the team.
There's a chance that Schrder gets to start at shooting guard with Westbrook. Nunn missed the entire season with a knee injury, but is expected to return.
After a disappointing first season in LA, his role came into question. He shot 44.4% from the field and 29.8% from three-point range in 78 games last year.
There were obvious chemistry issues with the other Lakers stars as both of them missed significant chunks of the season and didn't have enough time to get to know their new point guard.

There had been some speculation that the 33-year-old was going to be traded, but Ham has maintained that he is looking forward to working with him.
"I want to help him get that championship ring and I can't wait to coach him."
The Lakers will play the Warriors in October.
