There are more than 90 videos and images from the next edition of the Grant Theft Auto franchise that have been leaked online by a hacker.
One of gaming's biggest security breeches was posted on Sunday.
Early development footage from Grand Theft Auto VI has been stolen, but it's not clear how the network intrusion occurred.
A user named teapotuberhacker put the footage on the website.
The hacker claimed to have gained access to the data by breaching the internal feed on the chat app and invited executives to negotiate to avoid further leaks.
There are additional revelations that could be damaging to the company's operations.
The original post has been taken down but it is still being spread on social media. The footage is said to have been ordered to be removed from the two websites.
It appears that the game will feature the first female character in the series.
The setting of the game was revealed as a fictionalized version of Miami, which was also the setting of the 2002'sGTA: Vice City.
In a statement on Monday, the company said it was extremely disappointed to have any details of their next game shared with you all.
"Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to deliver an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations," it said.
The game was developed earlier this year, with industry insiders expecting it to be released in a couple of years.
Fans speculated that the leak could delay the game's release, but executives said they didn't anticipate any long-term effect on the development of their ongoing projects.
One of the most successful video games of all time is Grand Theft Auto 5, which has sold more than 170 million copies.
It's online mode is estimated to have generated more than a billion dollars in 2020.
