The team will honor Russell in a number of ways this season, including two nights in his honor in October and February. A special jersey will be worn by the Celtics for some of their games. Something will be on their uniforms to honor him.
The NBA will retire the number 6 in honor of the civil rights pioneer who died on July 31. The number 6 will be displayed on the sideline by every other home court.
