One of their key defensive players will be out for a while.
According to Ian Rapoport, Willie Gay Jr. has been suspended for four games for violating the personal conduct policy. The suspension is related to a January arrest in Kansas.
Gay was arrested on a charge of criminal property damage of less than $1,000 during the week of the Kansas City Royals' playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. According to his agents, he got into an argument with the child's mother, who called the police.
The police report said the total property damage was $225 for a vacuum cleaner, cellphone screen protectors, and a wall and door frame.
Gay was a second-round pick in 2020 and played in 12 games last season. He was on injured reserve with an injured toe. He was expected to improve this season.
Gay has 16 total tackles and two passes defended in two games for the Chiefs. He appeared in 92 percent of the team's defensive snaps in the win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Gay will be missing games against the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills. He can come back in Week 7 against the 49ers.
