Russian commanders revert to Stalinist measure to prevent own soldiers retreating

A military expert says that Russia has lost a war of attrition.

Russian troops attempted to launch a counter-offensive on Ukrainian positions in the Bakhmut area. The 4th separate motorized rifle brigade of the 2nd Russian army corps carried out the attack.

Russia media SOTA reported that mercenaries forcibly recruited Russian prisoners for war.

After Ukrainian defense forces returned fire, enemy units began to pull out of their firing positions.

Russian commanders were forced to remind their subordinates about the prohibition against voluntary withdrawals from positions, as well as the possibility of rear blocking units opening fire on them, the intelligence said.

In Luhansk Oblast, the Ukrainians target the Wagner Group barracks.

The report states that commanders referred to commander's order No. 222.

It is similar to Stalin's order of June 28, 1942, in which Soviet soldiers were shot at if they attempted to retreat.
