• The brochures were false and promised cash and job placement services.

  • They were flown to Massachusetts in order to make a political point.

  • The lawyers want a criminal investigation.

The migrants were flown to Martha's Vineyard as part of a political stunt.

The Lawyers for Civil Rights shared links to photos of the brochure on their website. During their relocation from Texas to Florida, the migrants received a brochure, according to the group.

It's not clear if the planes were used to transport the 50 migrants from Texas to Florida or if they were used to relocate the people from Texas to Florida. The lawyers for Civil Rights did not respond to the request.

Links to the brochure photos of "Perla", the woman who promised the migrants work permits in Boston, were reported by Popular Information.

The benefits in the brochure are for refugees who have been referred by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, but they are not available in Massachusetts to the migrants who are still seeking asylum.

Up to 8 months of cash assistance, job placement, retention and upgrade services, and assistance with housing are some of the benefits described in the brochure.

According to the governor's office, lawyers for Civil Rights posted their requests for a federal and Massachusetts criminal investigation into the decision to transport the migrants.

They alleged in both letters that their clients were deceived into boarding airplanes and crossing state lines. In order to induce our clients to travel, individuals, working in concert with the Florida Governor, made numerous false promises to our clients.

They wrote that their clients learned they were bound for Martha's Vineyard instead of Boston and that the offers of assistance had all been a ruse to exploit them.

Lawyers say that many of their clients were put up in hotels until there were enough people to fly. Law enforcement should be able to locate alleged perpetrators as well as documents that their clients were required to sign if they have documentary evidence, they wrote.

They wrote that this type of conspiracy to deprive our clients of their liberty and civil rights and interfere with federal immigration proceedings must be thoroughly investigated.

According to CNN, the migrants were given a map of Martha's Vineyard and were given a waivers to travel.
