After a state funeral on Monday, the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II was lowered into the Royal Vault.

TheQueen's coffin was placed on a marble slab in a section of the chapel known as theQuire, which was then lowered into the vault. The king and queen were among the mourners who paid their respects to the monarch who died at the age of 96.

Buckingham Palace confirmed to Insider that the Queen's coffin will be buried in the King George VI memorial chapel, the final resting place of her father, King George VI. The remains of the chapel's namesake were moved from the Royal Vault to the chapel after it was finished in 1969.

The New York Times reported that Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret died in 2002. Prince Philip, who was laid to rest in the Royal Vault, will be moved to the chapel to be laid to rest with the Queen.

There was a committal service on Sunday. It's either 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. According to Buckingham Palace's statement, the event was conducted by the Dean of Windsor, David Conner, with a blessing from the archbishop of Canterbury. The queen was put into the vault.

A state funeral was held for the Queen. It's either 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. The heads of state, world leaders, prime ministers, and royal family were present.

More than 200 people were recognized in The Queen's birthday honors list earlier this year.

The funeral was conducted by the dean. The UK prime minister and the secretary general of the Commonwealth did readings during the service. The dean gave a blessing.

There was a two-minute silence at the end of the funeral service.

The Queen's committal service took place at St. George's Chapel after her coffin traveled from the Abbey to Wellington Arch.

Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward were next to King Charles at Wellington Arch. The Queen's grandsons were followed by Princes William and Harry.

The coffin was taken to Windsor, where it was taken to St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Insider was told by Buckingham Palace representatives that at 7:30pm. The Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen will be buried together in Windsor. It will be the first time in 70 years that she will be away from the public eye.
