The New York Giants could have easily given the ball to Saquon Barkley on third-and-six from their own 40-yard line with less than two minutes to go. The Carolina Panthers need to use their final timeout, punt the ball and rely on a defense that has played well in the first two weeks of the season.

These Giants aren't like that. It wasn't with Brian Daboll as the coach.

The quarterback was supposed to roll out on a bootleg. He could either throw to him or run himself. Jones got 11 yards on the play to get a first down. For the second week in a row, the Giants opened their home schedule with a victory, this time beating Carolina 19-16.

Jones thinks it was a great call.

Two weeks and two statements from the Giants about what kind of team they are and how they are performing. They are the only two teams in the East that are 2-0.

"I think it's important to show players that you have faith in them," said Daboll, who called for a 2-point conversion to go for the win late last week in Tennessee During the week, they work their ass off. During camp, they have worked their ass off. You have to put it in their hands when it matters the most. The decision Daniel made was the right one.

This isn't just an offensive philosophy that he brought with him from Buffalo. He is installing an organizational attitude. The approach the Giants are taking is the same one.

Even without its top two pass-rushers, the defense is thriving in the new scheme. Leonard Williams left the game in the third quarter due to a knee injury.

It didn't make a difference. The Giants defense doesn't want to be scared. In the biggest spot of the game, it dropped Jihad Ward in coverage. The safety, who had half a sack in his first three seasons, sacked the quarterback on third down. The ball wasn't returned by Carolina.

Wink has done this many times. "He's not afraid of failure." We don't want the organization to be afraid of failure, we want them to be afraid of the consequences. You can live with the results if you prepare correctly. I will repeat that over and over again.

The results so far have been positive. Fans of the Giants have become used to seeing them lose in recent years, as the 2-0 Giants are winning the games they are playing. They won their second game in the 10th week of the season. They did it by the middle of September.

In the last two weeks, the defense of Martindale has made stops to preserve victories. Since the beginning of the 2016 season, the Giants hadn't won two games in a row by three points or less.

The guys on our team don't fear failure. At the bottom, we have been. The safety said that they experienced all that. We don't worry about messing up. Sometimes we hear loud noises. We aren't too concerned about it. At some point, we will have a breakthrough.

It could be that breakthrough.

McKinney didn't know. We're doing well. We need to keep going. Things can go south very quickly in this league.

It is clear that the Giants are embracing this new approach. It's not the same as last year, when Joe Judge called a QB sneak on third-and-9 from inside his own 5-yard line.

He won in his second career game.

Andrew Thomas said that it pumps up the team when the coach believes in them. It makes me feel good.

It appears to be good for the Giants. Their coach believes in them and they seem to agree with him.
