The league suspended Evans without pay for one game for his involvement in the altercation with Lattimore.

Evans was suspended for violating the rules. Evans will not be allowed to return until after the Packers game on Sunday.

Under the collective bargaining agreement, Evans is able to appeal the suspension. If he does appeal, the hearing will be before one of the two people who have been appointed by the league and the players' association to rule on player discipline appeals.

Sources say Evans will appeal the suspension. The hearing is expected to happen this week.

Jon Runyan, the vice president of football operations for the National Football League, wrote a letter to Evans. When you saw that your teammates were having a confrontation with the Saints' players, you ran towards that area on the field and hit an opponent who was part of that confrontation. A fight broke out when you knocked your opponent to the floor. The high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional is not reflected in your aggressive conduct.

Rule 13 states that "unnecessarily running, diving into, cutting, or throwing the body against or on a player who is out of the play or should not have reasonably anticipated such contact by an opponent before or after the ball is dead"

Any act that is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship is not allowed.

There were no suspensions on Monday.

Evans had previously been suspended for a fight with Lattimore. Evans was given a one game suspension for shoving Lattimore in the back.

According to Evans, Lattimore punched Fournette in the face and pushed Brady. He wasn't worried about being suspended because he didn't feel like he was in violation of the rules and he wasn't ejected. The National Football League takes into account repeat offenses.

He hit my teammate. Evans said he pushed him to the floor. I was trying to support my teammate. I didn't see him punch someone in the face. I was not going to allow that to happen.

Evans ripped his helmet off after Lattimore shoved him in the back.

It would further deplete the receiving corps if Evans' suspension stands. The Bucs played without two of their best players.

We don't want fighting in our game because we lost a good player. Our team does not benefit from it. We don't think that's right. "We don't teach that in our game, that's for sure."

Losing a very good ball player hurts our team because we have to fight alone. We don't condone it. We have to try to win without him. He said that that should be a lesson for other players.

Evans has been one of the most valuable players in franchise history since he was selected seventh overall in the NBA draft. He has recorded 1,000 receiving yards in each of the first eight seasons of his career. Evans greeted Brady and his teammates in the tunnel after the victory, after watching the game in the locker room.

It's always a fine line between sticking up for teammates and crossing over into unwanted territory, according to the coach. This is a game of control. You try to keep your teammates safe, but you have to do it the right way.
