Woody Allen said he would retire after his 50th film, but a representative for him said that was not true.
In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, Allen said he would focus on writing a novel instead of making more movies.
"My idea, in principle, is not to make more movies and focus on writing these stories and, now, I'm thinking more of a novel," he said.
Allen has no intention of retiring, nor did he say he was writing another novel, according to his representative.
The representative said that he was thinking about not making films as making films that go straight or very quickly to streaming platforms was not so enjoyable for him.
In an interview with Alec Baldwin in June, Allen said that he may write Broadway plays in the future. Dylan, Allen's adopted daughter, accused him of sexually abusing her when she was a child, and Allen faced intense scrutiny over the claims. Kate Winslet and Colin Firth have both expressed regret over working with Allen and have promised not to do so again.
