Satellites are watching a Category 1 storm that is hitting the Caribbean Islands.

According to the Washington Post, high winds and heavy rain caused the island's power grid to go down. Five years after the island was ravaged by Hurricane Maria, it is bracing for another storm.

According to CNN, the Dominican Republic was hit by the storm early Monday morning. The eastern side of the Dominican Republic is expected to be hit harder by the storm.

Satellites will be used to track storms this year.

The Turks and Caicos is expected to get hit by the storm on Tuesday as it passes over warm ocean water. The storm is predicted to go over the ocean and make its way to the island.

This year's Hurricane season began on June 1 and will last through November 30.

A total of 14 to 21 named storms, six to 10 of which they expected to be hurricanes, were predicted by the officials of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.
