The upcoming Prada x adidas collaboration is one of the biggest sneaker stories of the year. Rumors of the partnership started to heat up in late October before adidas and Prada released an official announcement in early November confirming the collab.

The two brands revealed this would be a long-term collaboration, with the first joint sneaker dropping this December. The first release will include two limited-edition styles for men and women, which will be made in Italy by Prada. The brands also promised the release of new Luna Rossa sailing footwear, to be unveiled in 2020, confirming rumors of an " adidas Prada Sailing " shoe, while other leak accounts suggest there could be a Made in Italy Prada x adidas Originals Superstar dropping too.

So far, both brands have remained tight-lipped about what exactly to expect, leaving us no choice but to create some (not so serious) mockups of what a Prada x adidas sneaker collaboration could look like. To put our mockups together we used Sneaker Generator, an app that pairs different uppers and sole units from various brands. We have also included related shopping tips, in case you're looking to get a jump on the official release.

Prada x adidas FYW-97 Cloudbust

With the current obsession with retro sportswear models, we thought we'd combine the upper of an (in our opinion) under-appreciated adidas model that relaunched this year with the futuristic tooling of Prada's Cloudbust sneaker. The FYW S-97 originally featured a hefty performance sole unit packing Torsion technology but that is swapped out here for the much sleeker Cloudbust midsole. The result is a shoe that looks and feels both retro and futuristic at the same time.

Prada x adidas ZX Sport

The Prada Sport is hands-down the Italian fashion house's most iconic sneaker, which is why we're fairly certain it will be used as part of the real Prada x adidas collaboration. Here, we've remixed it by replacing the original sole with that of the ZX 10,000 C. adidas made it a point to push its ZX line this year, re-launching a number of archival silhouettes, which is why the marriage between Sport and ZX makes way too much sense to ignore.

Prada x adidas Cloudbust 10,000 C

This mockup is another combination that combines a recently re-launched retro adidas sneaker with Prada's hottest new sneaker, the futuristic Cloudbust. The bulbous Cloudbust tooling almost fits too perfectly against the busy upper of the ZX 10,000 C, making us question whether we should maybe put the pen down and go into sneaker design.

Prada x adidas Sport 4D

While some of the above mockups have fused adidas heritage products with Prada's latest and greatest, this one flips that approach on its head, pairing adidas' revolutionary 4D midsole technology with Prada's classic Sport silhouette. The result is an interesting juxtaposition between the tooling and upper. The Sport's leather and mesh build is subtle and lowkey, while the 4D midsole is the focal point of the shoe.

Prada x adidas Turnout Sport

Here, we play with silhouettes instead of technology and eras like above. The Alexander Wang for adidas Originals Turnout's ultra bulky midsole is pitted against the sleek, minimalist upper of the Prada Sport. The resulting aesthetic is wildly different to either original designs, with a chunky, yet still low-key final product.
