Gregory Coleman Jr., 37, who had been on life support since he was sucker-punched in a "vicious attack" against him by two men, died Sunday evening, his family's attorney said.

Coleman's family and loved ones, including his young daughter, were at his side when he died of his injuries as a result of the "senseless murder," according to an attorney.

"For the time being, his family is focused on celebrating his life and mourning his death," Hastie said. They want the privacy so they can support each other and Dakota.

They are eternally grateful for the support and love directed to them by Greg's many friends, coworkers, and the community at large. The death of Greg is heartbreaking for everyone who knew him.

Hastie urged the public to focus on bringing his killers to justice. Those responsible should be brought out of hiding and arrested right away.

Columbus police said that the two people charged with attempted murder were accused of attacking Coleman and leaving him lying in the street. Coleman's death was a factor in the Columbus police homicide detective's work. The charges against the two men will be upgraded to murder.

Coleman, who was from the Northeast Side, was standing and eating on the sidewalk in front of the Julep Bar when a man, whom police identified as Foster, walked up and robbed him.

Coleman was prepared to fight Foster in the video that was shared by Columbus police. Coleman backs up with his fists up as Foster moves towards him. Coleman faked a punch at Foster, who stumbled into a parked vehicle.

Coleman dropped his fists and turned to his right as Cummings sucker punched him in the face. Coleman hit his head on the street with his feet and calves on the curb.

Foster slaps Coleman at least two times after Coleman fell to the ground. The person from the East Side slaps Coleman before they leave him there.

At 2:34 a.m., Columbus police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male outside of a bar on North High Street.

People were taking pictures and videos of the victim. The officers couldn't locate any witnesses. The failure of witnesses to help Coleman has been criticized by friends and the general public.

Coleman was taken to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was in a critical condition. Police said it was not likely he would survive his injuries, so he was on life support.

Coleman worked as a bartender in the Short North.

The circulation of videos of the assault on social media led to the identification of the suspects. Several people filmed the incident and uploaded it to social media, according to court documents.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.
