Russia is being turned into a "pariah" by the invasion of Ukraine, according to an icon of the Russian music scene.

Alla Pugacheva asked the Russian Ministry of Justice to make her a foreign agent in order to show her support for her husband.

Pugacheva has sold an estimated 250 million records in Russia and the former Soviet states.

Moscow's Tina Turner is the goddess of Russian pop, according to the New York Times.

She and her husband fled to Israel after Russia invaded Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have been accused of lying about war crimes in Ukraine by Galkin.

Russian law states that a foreign agent can be named on Friday.

Pugacheva said she was in solidarity with her husband.

She noted that Galkin wanted an end to the deaths of children for illusory goals that made Russia a pariah country.

Pugacheva has said something before. She signed a petition in support of a Russian musician who criticized Russia's actions in the Donbas region of Ukraine.

State-controlled news agency RIA Novosti reported that Pugacheva promised to put things in order when she came back to Russia from Israel.

An image of her was included in a social media post.

Russia has a law about foreign agents. It was supposed to force people and organizations to declare their support from outside Russia, but it has been used to silence critics.

FKB, the anti-corruption organization led by opposition politician Alexei Navalny, was also labeled a foreign agent before being designated an extremists in 2021, according to a report.

The law's wording was changed in July to cover people who are deemed to be under foreign influence.
