How would the Sun's position change if you took a picture every day that included the Sun? An analemma is a picture taken from the same place over a year. The images were taken near the village of Callanish in the Outer Hebrides in the UK. The Callanish Stones were built during the Bronze Age and are in the center of the picture. The placement of the Callanish Stones is unknown. The tilt of the Earth axis is the main cause of the figure-8 shape. The sun will appear at the top or bottom of an analemma at the summer's longest day. The Sun is near the bottom of the featured image. The intersection point is not the analemma middle point. When the day and night are equal over all of Earth, it's called the equinox. A change of season is celebrated by many people.

There are layers in this image. The village of Manlleu is located in Spain. The car lights are exposed for six minutes. Serra de Bellmunt is a mountain located in the Pyrenees. There is a huge lightning storm coming from the anvil cloud. Many intricate lightning bolts were captured by the long exposure. Stars are at the top and farthest away. Stars were made into trails here. The trails show their distance from the north spin pole of the Earth above. The lightning storm was taken after sunset. Billions of years into the future, the stars will continue to circle the poll.
