President Joe Biden said in an interview that former president Donald Trump's retention of classified documents after leaving office was "irresponsible."

In an interview with 60 Minutes, Biden said that he hadn't been briefed on the sensitive documents that FBI agents recovered from Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.

I have not talked to anyone about that. The National Security Council is aware of all of that. But I have not done so.

Biden was asked about the photo released by the Justice Department that showed documents on the floor of Mar-a-Lago.

What did you think when you saw the picture of the documents on the floor? The host asked if the person was looking at the image.

How could that be possible? How could anyone be that irresponsible? I wondered what data was in there that could compromise sources and methods. By that, I mean names of people who helped...

Biden doesn't want to be in the middle of whether or not the Justice Department should move or not move on certain actions.

The Espionage Act, obstruction of an investigation, and removal or destruction of records are all being investigated by the Department of Justice.

A list of items removed from the property shows that the FBI recovered 11 sets of classified documents, some of which should have only been available in special government facilities.

FBI agents recovered one set of documents that were labeled " Various classified/TS/SCI documents", meaning the documents included top- secret or sensitive compartmented information.

Four sets of top- secret documents, three sets of secret documents, and three sets of confidential documents were on the list. There was no information about the substance of the documents.

An independent special master was granted by a federal judge to review the seized documents.

A third-party review is needed because the FBI raid that took place just months before the 2020 elections involved political calculations aimed at diminishing the leading voice in the Republican Party, according to Trump.
