UFC legend José Aldo has been released from the promotion.
Aldo will be able to explore a career in boxing or other combat sports, according to Alexander K. Lee. He had a fight left in his UFC contract.
Since 2004, the 36-year-old has fought at least once a year. His last 20 fights have been in the UFC, with a 31-8 record.
Aldo, one of the most dominant fighters of his era, was the inaugural UFCfeatherweight champion and made seven successful title defenses before losing to the man who would go on to win the UFC lightweight title. He won the title back in July but lost it in his next fight.
Aldo went on to lose five fights in a row after the loss toHolloway. Aldo lost at UFC 251 but rebounded with three straight wins before losing his last UFC fight against Dvalishvili.
Dvalishvili said after the fight that he shook his hand and told him to thank him for the fight. He told me that this was his last chance to win a title. He said that he thought he was done.
Aldo is said to be considering a professional boxing career after he retires from MMA. He has never boxed in front of an audience.
