Joan Hodges, widow of Hall of Famer Gil Hodges, dies at 95

The widow of a World Series winning manager has died.

She was 10 days away from her 96th birthday. A moment of silence was held before the Mets faced the Pirates.

The baseball player was in the Hall of Fame in July.

Gil was 47 years old when he died of a heart attack.

The Mets are thankful that Joan was able to see Gil in the Hall of Fame. It meant a lot to hear that from the Mets and the family.

Gil and Joan's daughter spoke on their behalf at the hall of fame.

I am happy for my mom. The Hall of Fame called. When I lost my father, I cried a lot. I was overjoyed that my mom would hear about it.

Gil and Joan lived and raised their children in the Brooklyn home that Joan resided in. She is survived by the couple's son and daughter.
