They are too comfortable with the blonde family. The Targaryens have graced our screens for over a decade now, and while we originally only had Daenerys as our favorite dragon-riding, Dracarys-spitting queen, House of the Dragon has given us a whole new bunch of Targaryens

Which one is the most effective? Who made a huge change to the course of the show? Who was on one side of the coin?

We have ranked the Targaryen family from worst to best. Get ready for fire, blood, and disappointment.

10. Aerys II “The Mad King” Targaryen

The first time we heard of The Kingslayer was when we saw The Mad King in Game of thrones. The Mad King wanted to burn them all to the ground. Ned Stark's father and brother were murdered by him. He tried to burn King's Landing to the ground. The Targaryen dynasty ended due to his tyranny. If he had not done what he had to, we might not be where we are today.

9. Viserys Targaryen III

Viserys took after his dad. He told his sister that he would allow a thousand men to rape her if he could. We don't know what happened to him. He is another example of how bad Targaryens can be. His death was a sigh of relief.

The only golden crown that he was ever fit for was given to him by the man. The sun and stars are unchanging.

8. Viserys Targaryen I

When you think Viserys is disappointing, you know he is. He is getting worse. His only moment of worth was appointing Rhaenyra as his heir, which he proceeded to take an entire dump on by marrying her best friend, actively choosing to kill her mother, and finally pulling a complete 180.

He doesn't want to see what's in front of him. He couldn't kill a deer. What is the Targaryen legacy like?

7. Princess Rhaenys Targaryen

There is something about the queen who never was. She speaks a thousand words with her side- eyes. She's like a stray from her blonde hair. She knows how to play a throne game. Rhaenys knows how the show works, whether it's ideating marriages between her children and the ruling royal or offering Rhaenyra pearls of wisdom on the truth of men. We haven't seen much of her yet, but she is destined for huge revenge.

6. Jaehaerys I “The Old King” Targaryen

The greatest Targaryen king to ever rule is not seen in House of the Dragon. Viserys I was appointed as his heir after he died. The Old King made many good decisions before that. He led a reign of peace and prosperity after unifying rival families and building the Kings road. The Old King is a rare exception in the grand scheme of kings. Ruling with intelligence, mercy, and subtle assertiveness is pretty cool to me.

5. Rhaenyra Targaryen

The first woman made a promise. The princess rides a dragon. The queen is Rhaenyra Targaryen. From the first episode of House of the Dragon, it was obvious that Rhaenyra is a force to be reckoned with; she upholds a political intelligence that her father, Viserys I, and his council wrongly brush off. She knows when and where the right time is to use the power that was brought to them by their dragons. What would have been the most useless fight between Prince Daemon and Otto Hightower in an instant, if she pulled up with Syrax and ended it? That is really hot.

4. Daemon Targaryen

I am not upset that my For You page is turning into a stan account for this man.

Daemon is the epitome of everything that makes the game of thrones great. He's a rash and impulsiveexhibitionist. He knows what it means to climb Little Finger's ladder of chaos. Do you plan on going into a battlefront on your own? It's amazing. Is it possible to dodge a hundred arrows while doing it? It's phenomenal. Do you want to prove a point? The whole game of thrones plot. Daemon has the crown under his belt and we can't wait to see what he does next.

3. Jon Snow

The true heir to the Iron Throne is The Prince That Was Promised. Jon Snow is more than one thing. The Game ofThrones writers didn't give us things. Let's take a look at everything they gave us.

Jon Snow saved the Seven Kingdoms time and time again. One of the show's most memorable, beloved, and important characters is he. It wouldn't be the same without the Targaryen.

The writing duo that should not be named did what they did to Jon Snow.

2. Daenerys Targaryen

Where would I start? The Game of Throne's Targaryen focus came to be in the first place. The entire scope of the show was marked by her legacy as she went from a Khaleesi to the Mother of Dragons to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. She was the most important person in the show.

I don't think a character's death caused a reaction like that. A large part of it was due to the suddenness of what was Season 8 and the fact that we got to watch her grow for so long.

The best Targaryen we have seen so far on screen is a woman who doesn't need a saddle. The mother of dragons is her. The Unburnt is her name. She will be our queen.

1. Aegon “The Conqueror” Targaryen

“Aegon Targaryen changed the rules, that’s why every child knows his name 300 years after his death.” — Tywin Lannister in “A Man Without Honor” / Game of Thrones

Aegon I is the epitome of Targaryen excellence. Book-averters and die-hard fans alike can recite his history because his name is mentioned so many times in the show. The Seven Kingdoms are what they are because of him. He is the rider of the biggest dragon. The royal line was founded by him. He is the epitome of the OGs.

The rise of the White Walkers, the Song of Ice and Fire, and the legend of the Prince that was promised are all due to his prophetic dream. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have had our own show.

Aegon is the biggest man. All he did was do it. He is one of the most important offscreen characters on the show because of his indelible mark on the Targaryen legacy. You already know we will be watching if another Aegon and his sisters spinoff is ever made.

The Targaryen family is a mix of the best and worst in the world. We'll take Matt Smiths over that weird cousin any day.

On Sundays, House of the Dragon can be seen on the two networks.
