After a comfortable win at the Gtech Community stadium on Sunday, the Gunners went back to the top of the league.

You can watch LaLiga, Bundesliga, MLS, more on the US version of the network.

The first goal of the game was scored by William Saliba on a corner headed into the far corner of the field. Gabriel Jesus headed home the second goal after Granit Xhaka floated a cross into the box.

With a dipping shot from 25 yards, Fabio Vieira made it a three-point game shortly after the break. The low shot by Mikkel Damsgaard was kept out by Ramsdale, but it was not enough as the Bees were beaten by a single point.

Player ratings, best and worst performers, highlights and notable moments, post match quotes, and key statistics are included in the jump.

Rapid reaction

This is the first thing. The park has a "stroll in the park".

When the teams met in February this year, manager Mikel Arteta used a message from last season to motivate them.

"Nice kickabout with the boys," Ivan Toney said after a 2-0 win for the Bees in August 2021, and the recent Amazon documentary showed Arteta using a screenshot of that comment in his pre match team talk seven months later, helping inspire a 2-1 victory at home.

The win at Gtech Community Stadium will arguably have given the team more satisfaction, as they were utterly dominant from the start and never looked in danger after William Saliba headed them into a 17th minute lead.

Gabriel Jesus headed in Granit Xhaka's cross 11 minutes after the other two goals, and four minutes into the second half, there was no chance of a comeback by the Bees.

Toney, who was this week celebrating his maiden international call-up and becoming the first Brentford player to make an England squad, barely had a kick all afternoon. The fans sang "Ivan Toney, walk in the park."

There are two The man steps up on his debut.

With Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe out, Arteta turned to his summer signing from FC Porto to play as a right-sided No. 8.

The Portugal U21 international was sent crashing to the turf by a robust challenge from Ben Mee, who tried to give him an early taste of what was to come.

The 22-year-old grew into the contest and helped keep a level of control throughout. The highlight was a 25-yard strike which clipped the left post of David Raya and capped a promising individual display. The first player to score from outside the penalty area in the premier league era was Vieira.

There are three. The team stays top into October.

The ability to bounce back from adversity is one of the questions about this side. Losing at Manchester United was their first defeat of the season, but this was an emphatic response, showing that the chastening experience at Old Trafford is already a distant memory.

With their traditional top-four rivals not playing this weekend, we had a chance to create more distance between ourselves and them. It is very early days, and those sides have a game in hand, but it will do a lot for the confidence of a group that has been accused of being fragile.

They were comfortable enough to bring on the youngest ever player in the premier league. He wasn't able to change with his teammates because he's still a minor.

The international break means thatArsenal will be top going into next month, but the first day back they play Spurs. They are strong enough to attack that task.

The table of upcoming fixtures is reported in the report.
