According to an upcoming book, Donald Trump wouldn't pick Mike Pence to be his running mate if he ran for president again.

Since leaving the White House, Trump has been teasing a 2020 run.

According to a report from The Guardian, an advance copy of the upcoming book was obtained from Susan Glasser and Peter Baker.

Trump said that Mike committed political suicide when he refused to intervene in the election certification process.

During the final days of Trump's presidency, there was an apparent rift between the two men.

In January 2020, Trump asked the vice president to intervene in the process, but he later said that he was wrong to say that the vice president had the power to overturn the results of a presidential election.

Though the two are no longer on speaking terms, Pence's remarks drew outrage from Trump, who called him wrong.

According to Trump, the changes to the Electoral Count Act gave him authority.

They want the law changed because they don't want the vice president to have the right to ensure an honest vote. "Dems and RINOs" want to block the vice president from ensuring an "honest vote," Trump said at the time.

Our country is going to hell because of a lost opportunity. "I said that."

Congress has the power to count presidential electors and resolve disputes over results. According to Insider's Grace Panetta, the bill leaves a door open for overt partisan manipulation of presidential election results.

The job of the vice president is to preside over the certification of the electoral college. The Constitution did not allow him to overrule the results.

The Capitol riot on January 6 was a sad day in the life of the nation, according to Vice President Mike Pence.

In a January interview with Fox News, Pence said that he did his duty under the constitution. The president and I sat down in the days that followed and talked about it.
