A malpractice lawsuit was filed by Tyrod Taylor against the doctor who cared for him after he suffered a lung injury.
Taylor is looking for at least $5 million for lost wages, according to reports.
He was a backup quarterback when he came back to free agency. The lawsuit states that the economic difference between a starting quarterback's salary and a backup quarterback's salary is $5,000,000. The exact amount of such past and future loss is unknown to Taylor at this time, and he will ask leave of this Court for permission to amend this Complaint to set forth the total amount.
Taylor had a punctured lung when he was given a pain-killing injection. Taylor lost his starting job with the Bolts when he was injured, with then-rookie Justin Herbert taking over.
Herbert suffered a fractured rib in Thursday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and will be cared for by Gazzaniga.
Herbert is being listed as a day-to-day problem. His status for next week's game is not likely to be determined until late next week.

It's possible that if Herbert suits up in Week 3, he will have the same type of injection Taylor had two years prior.
The Houston Texans signed Taylor to a one-year contract after the 2020 season. If he performed well as a stopgap starter before ceding to Herbert, Taylor could have made a lot of money.
Taylor didn't file a complaint against the Bolts after the incident.
