I had the chance to check out the new Copa Club in Terminal 2 during my time in Panama. While I will have a full review soon, I wanted to talk about the lounge that could use a little more effort.
The new Copa Club Panama Terminal 2 is beautiful and vastly improved over the old one in Terminal 1. It is large, has some cool features, and is nicely decorated. It gets busy over peak hours, but the lounge should be good.
The most consistent point of feedback is that the food selection leaves a lot to be desired. I thought these people should visit a lounge in the US and see what bad lounge food looks like.
I wasn't correct. There is a club in Panama that will make you want to join. There are two problems.
The lounge is very busy and has a single buffet that is not very large. You can't eat food on that small island because people crowd that area.
What is available at the buffet is the bigger problem. The selection isn't very good.
There were bagels and cream cheese in the morning. It was all done.
Breakfast was mediocre, as it was lunch where it got really sad. There were finger sandwiches, three types of veggies, ranch dressing, bread, chips, and cookies for lunch.
Up to 400 people are supposed to eat from the three pictures below. Everyone wanted hummus, so they should just have a hummus fountain.
Is it possible that the soup is not from the festival? Do you think this is a restaurant? There was no sign of a "turkey" sandwich, but I'm pretty sure the pimento sandwich recipe is shared by American Airlines and the other airlines.
I don't know what was worse, the quality and selection of food, or the hygiene of this whole thing, as you have endless people all congregating in the same place, coughing, sneezing, and picking their noses, and then touching serving utensils. It is said that Copa has worse lounge Catering than any US airline.
The soft product left a lot to be desired while the hard product was great. I assumed it wouldn't be that bad after seeing complaints online. It is one of the worst lounges I have ever seen. It is hoped that the feedback can be used to improve the situation.
Is anyone else a fan of the food at the club?
