The Washington Post reported that congressman Matt Gaetz asked for a presidential pardon because of an ongoing investigation into whether he sex traffickers a 17-year-old.
If the president could pardon him, it would be great because he did not do anything wrong and they were trying to make his life hell. The White House chief of staff asked Gaetz for a pardon.
The Department of Justice is investigating whether Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a girl who was under the age of 18.
Gaetz has always denied any wrongdoing.
At the end of Donald Trump's first term, congressman Matt Gaetz discussed pardons for many other people publicly and privately. President Trump addressed the rumor more than a year ago, saying that congressman Matt Gaetz had never asked him for a pardon. Gaetz is standing by the president's statement.
The spokesman wouldn't say if Gaetz denied the conversations about pardons with McEntee or the other person.
The GOP congressman, one of 20 Republicans to vote against reauthorizing a sex-trafficking law in July, has received continued support from the former President, despite Trump's calls for the death of human traffickers.
