In a winner-take-all bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, the winner of the bout will get to fight the winner of the other two bouts.
In the second fight of a controversial split draw between the two men in the year before, Golovkin was defeated by majority decision. Four years have passed since the first bout and with a win, Golovkin can finally put the doubts to rest.
Golovkin is moving up in weight for the fight. The 168-pound division was unified by Alvarez.
In the co-main event, Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez, one of boxing's most exciting and talented young fighters, defends his belt against Israel Gonzalez and fan favorite Gabriel Rosado takes on Ali Akhmedov.
Mike and Ben recap the fights from the ring.
GabrielRosado was a tough opponent. Ali Akhmedov was patient and perseverance against one of boxing's toughest men. Akhmedov won a unanimous decision on all three scorecards.

Several of the Kazakhstan fans waved the country's blue and yellow flag and cheered on their fellow countryman as he connected frequently. Rosado, a Philadelphia native who now lives in Puerto Rico, struggled early but seemed to find his footing in the later rounds. He succeeded in the ninth and 10th rounds.
It was not enough for the judges to score any rounds for him. He has won his last three bouts.
Austin "Ammo" Williams was the one who got the job done.

The first fight on the pay-per-view portion of tonight's card was won by the Houston native.
The fight was more interesting than it was entertaining. Williams was stunned by a right hand in the sixth round.
Everything fell apart in the ninth round. Williams was able to catch Conway with a lead right hand that caused him to fall to the floor.
There was a plan for Diego Pacheco.
The goal of his match was obvious to anyone who could read a betting sheet. Pacheco, a dumbfounding favorite, was expected to finish Collazo quickly and make a name for himself.
Pacheco did what he was supposed to do. In the fifth round, the Los Angeles native scored a knockout. Pacheco pounced on his Puerto Rican opponent and forced a stop.
It's not clear how good Pacheco can be after the fifth round. Competition could show where Pacheco's ceiling might be.
Kevin Montiel never imagined that he would be knocked out by a punch from a lightweight.
In the fifth round of a fight Castro had dominated, he unleashed a massive right uppercut that flattened Montiel and forced the referee to stop the fight. Montiel sat up and got a round of applause from the crowd after he was on his back for two minutes.
Castro's last three fights have all been stopped, with all of them happening this year. The promoter Matchroom thinks a lot of Castro, as evidenced by the fact that he has been featured on many of the undercards.
The title fight is between Gennadiy Golovkin and Saul "Canelo"lvarez.
