Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com said that Nebraska reached out to Urban Meyer as part of its search for a new coach.
It wasn't clear whether Meyer was asked if he wanted to hold the job. He thinks the Cornhuskers may have asked the 58-year-old for his opinion on other candidates.
A group of Nebraska fans chanted "We want Urban!" during the Fox show in Lincoln.
A fan made a shirt to lobby on his behalf.

Meyer was with the Jacksonville Jags for a long time. The fact that he failed to make it through a full season spoke to how much things went wrong.
The college record of Meyer speaks for itself. He has a good record with a 187-32 record. The lure of hiring a coach with his resume is obvious for a program like Nebraska that is trying to return to national prominence.
Many argue that Meyer's coaching days should be over because of the circumstances leading up to his departure from Ohio State. He was suspended for three games for failing to handle domestic violence allegations against an assistant coach.
It's possible that bringing Meyer in could be a disaster for Nebraska.

When players have more freedom to transfer, Meyer's authoritarian act may wear thin. Keeping your own players happy is one of the responsibilities of a coach in recruiting.
Less than a week has passed since Nebraska ousted Scott. As athletic director Trev Alberts looks at the full landscape, more candidates will emerge as a result of the idea of Meyer coaching the Huskers.
