Without several key players, Florida State held on for a 35-31 win over Louisville on Friday.
The quarterback who led FSU to an upset win over LSU in the first week of the season appeared to hurt his knee in the second quarter and did not return to the game.
After the game, Mike Norvell said that he would be evaluated when the team came back to Florida.
When he came out of the locker room, he looked like a different player than he had been.
In the second half, he sparked a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to open the second half and tie the score at 21, then threw a 69-yard touchdown to Johnny Wilson in the fourth quarter. The touchdown pass to Wilson was the difference in the game, as the FSU ground game carried the offense for a final score. Wilson had two touchdown catches.
The quarterback was 6-of-10 and had two touchdown passes.
Norvell said they could win with Tate. I've seen it in practice, I've seen him work so hard to be ready for the moment. He was on the road. He went out there and answered the question.
After the game, he walked without the aid of crutches and gave a hug to the other team.
The last 12 games have been played by Florida State. He is 44-of-65 passing for 622 yards and four touchdown.
FSU lost two players due to injury, including defensive tackle Fabien Lovett, who didn't travel with the team due to injury.
Some of our best football players did not make the trip. Our men willed themselves to victory.
Norvell joked after the game that all of them would need evaluation.
Florida State plays Boston College in the fourth week of the season.
