British people who fail to stock up their fridges this weekend might find it difficult to find food on Monday as many supermarkets and fast food chains will not open.

Smaller convenience shops will open after 5pm and all larger stores will remain closed. The stores will be closed on Monday, but the stores will be open on Tuesday.

Some gas stations will be open after 5pm.

In honor of the Queen, McDonalds will be closing all of its UK stores until 5pm on Monday.

Many of its restaurants will be closed until after the funeral, according to its website. Some of the restaurants in central London will be open throughout the day.

The Costa coffee shops will close as well.

Some restaurants and cafes may decide to stay open.

Selfridges, John Lewis, and other department stores will be closed on Monday for the funeral.

It was announced on September 9 that the store in west London would be closing to honor Queen Elizabeth II.

The cinema chains said on social media that they would close and that customers would not be able to purchase food or drinks.

Furniture giant Ikea and home improvement chain B&Q are two of the shops that have confirmed plans to close on Monday.

A growing number of businesses in the UK will be closing on September 19 for the Queen's farewell after the government announced there would be a national holiday on Monday.

There is no statutory entitlement to time off, the government said in its statement, and that employers include the bank holiday in staff holiday time, meaning some businesses may choose not to pay staff if they close.

The British public is already grappling with a cost-of-living crisis and a small cut to take- home pay could make it worse.

The Bank of England warned in August that businesses pausing trading on Monday could cause harm to the British economy, which is facing a looming recession at the end of the year.
