Home Depot's customers have been resilient despite economic headwinds, CEO says

In an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday, the CEO of Home Depot said that the business has remained strong despite the economic downturn.

Cramer asked him if he had seen the same signs of recession that FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam warned of on Thursday.

The consumer, pro and do-it-yourself have been unaffected.

Despite a weakened housing market and persistent inflation, the company reported earnings and revenue that beat expectations last month.

Our customer makes a lot of money. They tend to be in charge of their own affairs. They are spending more time in that home and it is getting older.

Even though the project business has held steady, the seasonal aisle has seen some weakness.

Is it difficult for us because of the weather? The spring was a tough one. Is it a response to pricing or a level of comfort with the economy? It's difficult to tease that out.

Home Depot is confident about its trajectory, according to the CEO. He said that they couldn't be more confident.
