The Karate Kid movies are returning to theaters. We don't know how or with whom. Sony Pictures just sent out a press release detailing some new additions and changes to its release schedule and at the top was the phrase "The return of the original Karate Kid franchise." Forty years ago, the first film was released.

io9 didn't give more information when they followed up with Sony. You have to assume that the film is some kind of continuation of the show, since it has been a huge hit. Is this where Daniel LaRusso and JuliePierce combine their knowledge of Mr. Miyagi? Is a movie the only way to get Hilary back into the fold? For now, we have no answers. The use of the word "original" makes it pretty clear that this won't have anything to do with the remake. There was a report earlier this summer about a new Karate Kid film, but it was not related to the rest of the series.

The Spider-Man Universe movies Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web have both been moved. Kraven the Hunter will be released in October of 2023. Madame Web will be released on February 16, 2024. The Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe was moved back to July 12.

There were a number of other changes as well. You will have to wait more for Garfield. The Karate Kid franchise is returning to the big screen.

At 6:30 p.m., the article was changed. The report from Murphy's Multiverse will be added on September 16.
