One pile of puked-out amphibian bones is a scientific treasure, as the saying goes.

A group of researchers have recovered the remains of a prehistoric pile o' puke. They should be happy about it. It's a unique finding that could show a lot about the region's ancient ecology.

The co-author of the study told Utah'sKSL News that he was excited to have found the site.

Prehistoric Puke

The Morrison Formation is a world-famous paleontological site in the Western part of North America and is known for a number of dinosaur findings. What sets this finding apart is that it doesn't just give scientists an understanding of what was in the past, but it also gives a glimpse into how the creatures in it may have interacted with one another.

According to the researchers, the puker may have been a bow fin fish, which are known to throw up food to distract or confuse their prey. The pukees appear to be prehistoric frog and salamanders. It is believed that there was a small lake in the desert region.

It might be the cool thing about this. It's normal for animals to be up to this. The way in which the Earth and beings relate to each other has not changed much over the years.

John Foster is the curator of the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum and study co-author. It shows how similar the ancient environments were to where we are now.
