Dennis Schroder is close to signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to his agent.
Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka and new coach Darvin Ham reached out to Russell Westbrook to let him know that they were going to sign a veteran guard to the team's 14th roster spot.
During the 2020-21 campaign with the Lakers, he averaged more than 15 points and nearly six assists, but he turned down an extension worth over 80 million dollars.
He settled for a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics after striking out in free agency. In 29 minutes per game, he averaged 14.4 points and 4.2 assists for the Celtics, but was traded to the Houston Astros in a deal for Daniel Theis. He didn't play a lot of games for the Astros.
The 29-year-old has a career average of 14.2 points and 4.7 assists in nine seasons in the NBA.
