Smashing rotten fruit is a lot of fun if you don't mind getting stuff all over your clothing. Do you know what is even more enjoyable? If you stand at a distance, you can see two pieces of produce slam into each other until they are nothing but a gross paste.
Vice first reported Friday that Jim Watkins made an offhand comment on a webcast that he was having issues with his own site 8kun because he had purchasedKiwi farms. There is a video on the telegram channel.
People were run out of their homes and other terrible things due to an incredible number of online harassment campaigns that were allegedly carried out by the troll farm, called Kiwi farms. One of their targets, trans woman and streamer Clara Sorrenti who goes by "Keffals" online and on her twitch streams, fired back and formed an online campaign to get Cloudflare and hCatpcha to remove the site.
VanwaTech confirmed it was now performing hosting duties after moving from one host to another. According to Vice, Jim Watkins, an alt-right figurehead who runs 8kun, is helping to run VanwaTech's server. 8kun is a place for alt-right activity, conspiracy theorists, and hate-based rhetoric.
After VanwaTech began hosting services for Kiwi, all of its sites started suffering major outages due to constant attacks from the internet. This has hurt the entire online infrastructure of the alt-right.
Vice reported that Watkins doesn't much like Josh Moon and that's where this all gets more complicated. Things got a bit off the ground when Moon heard about Watkins' comments. The owner ofKiwi farms wrote on Telegram.
“A confused old man believes he owns the Kiwi Farms for some reason. In case anyone is concerned: no, it’s not true.”
“To this evil person who accepted bitcoin from this elderly person and sold him a piece of napkin with ‘owner of Kiwi Farms’ written on it in crayon, you should be ashamed of yourself. It’s not fair to take advantage of our society’s most vulnerable.”
Since his site was taken down, Moon has not had a good time. He has moved from one domain to another, but his site still gets taken down because of the lack of protection.
After another online campaign, the company decided to stop offering the protection. When they first agreed to offer their services, the company didn't really know about the website's content. They found out thatKiwi farms has a lot of revolting content.
According to reports, since DiamWall decided to dropKiwi, they have been reviewed bombed by the troll community.
It should be clear to any provider out there that if you catch the hot potato, it is just as likely to burn your hands as if you were covering it. According to an interview with Ars Technica, the global head of public policy at Cloudflare said they decided to dropKiwi once they saw some threats that were very specific. The fact that the company wasn't aware of how bad things were shows a kind of arrogance that other internet companies should avoid.
