Watch: David Beckham's 12-hour wait to see the Queen

After paying his respects to the Queen, David Beckham said it was special.

The former England captain was one of the people who walked past the coffin.

He wiped away tears in the footage.

He said it was special to be here and to hear people's stories.

The Queen made Beckham an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to football.

He said that he took his grandparents with him to receive his award and that he had his wife with him.

To get my honor and to ask questions. I was fortunate to have a few moments like that in my life.

We can all see how special she is and how special she was, because of the love that has been shown to her.

It's a sad day but it's also a day for us to remember her legacy.

It was something that meant a lot to us when we stood there and wore those Three Lion shirts.

It was something special whenever we did it.

Beckham joined the long queue along the River Thames at 02:00 on Friday and revealed that he and his friends had been eating Pringles crisps, sherbet lemon sweets, coffee and donuts while waiting.

All of us want to be here. He said, "We all want to experience something where we celebrate the amazing life of our Queen and I believe something like this is meant to be shared together."

"This day was always going to be difficult for the nation, it's difficult for everyone around the world, and our thoughts are with the family and everyone here today."

I thought it would be quieter by 2am.
