Prime Video will be airing a limited series on "Blade Runner" The sci-fi franchise is getting a live-action TV show for the first time. "Blade Runner: Black Lotus" was made by Adult Swim last year.
In February, the Hollywood Reporter leaked the news. Today, Amazon made the announcement.
The plot or premiere date of the series has been kept under wraps. The sequel to "Blade Runner 2049" will probably take place 50 years after the first one.
The 1982 sci-fi film "Blade Runner" was directed by Ridley Scott, who went on to direct the 1979 horror film "Alien". Harrison Ford is in a cyberpunk film. Rick Deckard is a blade runner who hunts down bio engineered humanoids.
Thirty-five years later, the franchise was revived and the sequel was released.

The announcement of a greenlit "Blade Runner" series comes on the heels of the release of a "The Lord of the Rings" series. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has done very well for the streaming service. This was the biggest premiere in Prime Video's history, with 25 million viewers watching " The Rings of Power" in the first 24 hours.
Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services are likely to revive popular franchises in order to gain more subscribers.
