Thousands of people are waiting to see the Queen lie in state.
Sky News spoke to Beckham just after 2pm on Friday.
He said he was there to celebrate the queen.
As he waited to pay his respects, the former England football captain wore a dark cap and suit.
"This day was always going to be difficult," he said.
It's very special to hear the stories from people here and our thoughts are with the family.
It was the proudest moment of my life, when I received my award. My grandparents were big royalists.
I was fortunate to have a few moments like that in my life, and I'm glad I did.
It is a sad day but a day to remember.
A group of friends, including Chris Jones, spotted a 47-year-old man in the queue when they got to Victoria Gardens.
Mr Jones had been in line for 10 hours when he finally got to the final straight.
The queue was temporarily stopped by Beckham taking selfies with fans.
Mr Jones said that they wondered what the interest was.
The power of everyone wanting to pay respects to the Queen is shown by this.
The queen is lying in state.
Jules Birkby said that Beckham was a few lines behind them.
The queue is full of people trying to take a picture of David Beckham.
It's crazy. I feel bad for him but he is taking it well.
It's made me forget that we've been in The Queue for over two hours.
Following the monarch's death, Beckham said how much she inspired us with her leadership.
I am very sad by the death of the queen. He wrote that there was a lot of love and respect for the Platinum Jubilee.
She has meant a lot to people in this country and around the globe. How much did she inspire us?
She was comforting us when times were difficult. She served her country with honor and distinction.
She would know how much she was loved. I am praying for our Royal Family.
