It is not a big deal that a sports broadcast is on streaming. The last person to jump the River Styx was the National Football League, though a lot of people have been watching Monday Night Football. Last night was the first time we saw what they might do with the package.
Football fans are most likely just fine with the fact that the answer was not much at all.
The opening scene had 20x the production value and made us think that we are used to seeing. Sports radio stations in both towns and exterior shots of both Kansas City and L.A. were used by Amazon to show footage from both Kansas City's and L.A.'s practice facilities. It makes these teams seem like they came from somewhere instead of just two teams in the NFL. It felt like the oldEA NHL game that showed you a shot of the skyline of wherever the game was, made you feel good. I'm playing a team tonight. It's the skyline of Canada's largest city. I know what that looked like.
It was a run-of-the-mill presentation, which is fine. There was no screaming for the sake of justifying their place on the broadcast. Though garishly dressed, Richard Sherman and Ryan Fitzpatrick just provided plain and insightful analysis without trying to attract headlines.
Maybe Al Michaels was a little off because he was so used to the whole week of prep, or maybe Thursday is too early to get him out of the freezer. He was going to lose his ability to throw the ball quickly. KirkHerbstreit has always been a calm and sober voice in football analysis, letting Lee Corso fart out of his mouth on Gameday to fill their goofball quota.
I switched to the Next Gen channel for a while so that I wouldn't have to watch it all the time. I have a phone and laptop that I use for such things and I think most do as well. Everyone is interested in seeing if they can get on TV. There is a new way to watch a live game. It's a good alternative. I didn't bother with the sigma alpha douchebag channel that was offered by AMAZON. The Manningcast thing has gotten out of hand to the point where every channel is going to feel like they need to have an alternative broadcast with some jamoke on his couch and sweats trying not to belch. I don't know if I'm trying to belch on TV.
A lag between audio and video is always a threat with streaming channels and may not have been the case for everyone. It is a problem that they didn't hesitate to show Bowe hitting the drum for the Chop. Even though he broadcasted at least 700 games from Kansas City, Michaels was constantly mentioning the college-like feel of the stadium. It might have been to make it feel like it was more of a celebration.
It might be the most uncomfortable moment.
If you get that look from a human flu test, you'll be the most uncomfortable person in the world. It allows you to know who football is for. In the world of football, a win for fans is when players come on the stage and don't show their butt.
