The Texas Longhorns football program isn't holding back in its recruiting visits, but the effort paid off this summer to the tune of the current No. 3-ranked recruiting class.
According to public records obtained by The Athletic, the Longhorns spent nearly $620,000 on two recruiting weekends in June, including the official visit by Manning and eight other recruits that featured five-star accommodations and virtually all-you-can- eat fare for them and their families.
The four commitments that have been made so far are a result of Manning's visit. Four days after his recruiting trip, Manning said he would play for the Longhorns. The three-star tight end committed at the end of his visit.
A full spread in their rooms at the Four Seasons Austin was one of the highlights of the visit, according to The Athletic.

The Longhorns spent nearly 350,000 dollars on 14 recruits on the weekend of June 24th, and 12 of them have committed to the school.
It shows how much Texas has invested in recruiting over the last few years. The NCAA financial reports show that Texas spent over a million dollars on recruiting for the year. The 13th most spent on recruiting was done by Georgia.
The restrictions on recruiting caused the cost of recruiting to go up.
The University of Florida increased its football spending by $4.72 million recently, with $700,000 added to the recruiting budget. Billy Napier's budget for recruiting is close to $2 million, but it does not include his access to two private jets with a budget of $839,000.
Major programs need more spending to keep up. The spending has paid off for Texas, which has 12 commitment in the class of 2023.
