A person who is just 18 years old told the New York Times that they had broken into the company. According to the Washington Post, some employees thought the hack was a joke when it was announced in the internal channels of the company on Friday.

The hack was described by the Times as a "total compromise" of the company. The alleged hack shows access to HackerOne, Amazon Web Services, and other services.

According to Fortune magazine, the hacker posted a photo of an erect penis on internal websites with the message "FUCK YOU DUMB WANKERS", though it is not known how long the hacker had access to the data. The hacker did not gain access that day.

Some employees must have thought it was a joke after seeing the hacker's message in the internal Slack channel.

Hi @here

I announce i am a hacker and uber has suffered a data breach.

Slack has been stolen, confidential data with Confluence, stash and 2 monorepos from phabricator have also been stolen, along with secrets from sneakers.

This could be the work of a government or organized criminal organization if the hacker is not just an 18-year-old. If you wanted to look like an immature teen pranking a big company, you would use a cock and say "fuck you dumb wankers." An authentic teen would say that.

A person for the company would only say that they were in contact with law enforcement and that they were currently responding to a cyber incident. The account that was supposed to be used for updates hasn't been updated in a while. The time is on Thursday.

The sensitive information of 57 million users, including driver's license information, was compromised in a 2016 attack, but the company kept it a secret. Two executives were fired after the company paid $100,000 to the attackers.

If it turns out the hacker is a lone wolf not affiliated with any nation-state and just 18 years old, the hack would follow in a long tradition of teen hackers who broke into sensitive areas just because they could. Someone who can profit from a hack that opened up seemingly endless doors into the back end of the company will be paying attention. There's always a next time. It's time to get your shit together.
