The Department for Culture, Media and Sport said that entry to the queue to see the queen lying in state has been stopped for at least six hours.

People waiting in the queue have been told to expect a wait of at least 14 hours.

After the announcement, thousands of people were still in the queue, but it has now closed properly.

According to local media reports, mourners and an unofficial queue have ignored government requests to stay away from the park.

The main queue to see the queen could be one of the longest in British history, with people facing waits of 30 hours or more.

Guinness World Records told CNN that it does not monitor the record for the longest line and did not reply to Forbes asking if it planned to start doing so.

As part of official mourning for the queen, she has been lying in state in the hall. People have been invited to pay their respects. The government has warned people that the conditions in the queue will be difficult and that they won't have time to rest. A lot of people are going to pay their respects in London. There are disagreements among mourners over a rule that allows Members of Parliament and members of the House of Lords to skip the queue. A Chinese government delegation has not been allowed to attend the lying in state, which is in Parliament, as a result of Chinese sanctions against the U.K. lawmakers.

What To Watch For

There will be more people in the queue to see the queen lying in state. The queen's oldest son, King Charles III, will lead his siblings in a prayer over the queen's corpse. Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his title and military patronages after he settled a lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault, has been given permission to wear uniform for the event. There will be a vigil on Saturday. Special permission has been granted to wear military uniform for Prince Harry, who stepped back as a senior royal and now lives in the U.S.

Surprising Fact

A number of others the monarch set during her reign will be added if the queue breaks an official record. Britain's longest-serving monarch was the queen, and she was also the second-longest reigning monarch. She held the records for the most countries to be Head of State at the same time, and the most currency features the same individual.
