The liquid that is expelled from the bladder is known to be the cause of orgasms for some women.

During sex, women can produce a variety of fluids. lubricating fluid is released by the vagina. A clear fluid and a small fluid can sometimes be expelled from the urethra when orgasm occurs.

Female ejaculation used to be described as either orgasm fluids. The term "squirting" is used to describe the release of the clear fluid, but it is no longer used for this term.

About 5 percent of women in Western countries experience squirting, but what the fluid is and where it comes from is unknown.

A study led by Samuel Salama, now at the Poissy Saint Germain en Laye Hospital in Paris, suggests that squirting involves the expulsion of urine from the bladder since it was shown that seven women could squirt.

Miyabi Inoue, a urologist at Miyabi Urogyne Clinic in Japan, and her colleagues injected blue dye into the bladders of five female volunteers to see if they could squirt it. A researcher caught the ejected liquid in a cup after a man sexually stimulated the women.

The direction of squirting is variable and it's hard to collect it.

The squirted liquid was blue in all instances.

Jessica Pfs says that this confirms that squirting comes from the bladder. Does the liquid have the same composition as urine? She wants to know why some women expel liquid while others don't.

The women in the study all had good bladder control, which suggests that their squirting wasn't caused by urinary incontinence.

Four women appeared to experience female ejaculation when they squirted. This process involves the release of a small amount of fluid from small glands next to the urethra known as Skene's glands. The PSA is present in the ejaculate produced by the man.

PSA was found in the squirted liquid from four of the women in the study, suggesting that they produced female ejaculate at the same time as they squirted urine.

Women have different experiences of squirting. She interviewed 28 women in Sweden who were capable of squirting and found that it was enjoyable for some. Some people squirted involuntarily while others learned how to do it.

Women's experiences of squirting in Rwanda were studied by Pfs. She says that the highest level of satisfaction is connected to relaxation and release and that the knowledge of how to do it down from generation to generation is passed on to the next generation.
