When the power cord of your device isn't long enough to reach an electrical outlet, electrical extension cords can be used. There is a male plug in the wall and a female plug at the end of the extension cord. Male-to-male extension cords do exist. Much to the exhaustion of federal safety regulators, they can be found on Amazon.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission told consumers to stop buying male-to-male extension cords on Amazon. The theory is that if you plug one end of the cords into a home's electrical outlet and the other end into a gas generator, the home will be electric. You should not do that.

During a power outage, the extension cords can be used to back-feed electricity to the house by connecting a generator to an outlet in the house. The opposite end of a generator or outlet can have live electricity posing a risk of serious shock or electrocution.

Don't attempt to do this. It's stupid and unsafe. This warning needs to be made explicit by theCSPC.

A fire can be caused by the reverse flow of electric power in the direction of the typical flow of power. A risk of carbon monoxide poisoning can be created by the short length of some of the cords. The cords do not comply with applicable national safety codes.

People call these cords suicide cords if they read reviews on Amazon. Don't buy these cords anymore. The people are not safe.
