Eighteen-year-old Alice Capsey is the best talent I have seen for a long time in English cricket.

The right-handed pitcher played shots all around the field to show why she is considered one of England's best young pitchers.

She looks so calm under pressure.

England stuttered in the middle overs after an opening partnership of 70 between Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley, who made 49.

After watching Dunkley and her captain Amy Jones depart in quick succession, Capsey continued to take the attack to India's bowler to lead England to victory.

Capsey burst onto the scene during The Hundred in 2021, when she played a key role in Oval Invincibles' triumph, and Hartley credits England's professional domestic set-up with her success at international level

By the time she got to the Commonwealth Games, she had already been in that situation because she had played in The Hundred.

It's important for the young players to feel at home in the domestic competition.

Capsey's calmness at the crease is what stands out the most, with very little sign of nerves as she plays audacious reverse sweeps and powerful shots down the ground.

She looks in control when she steps on the field. When she is shy off the field, she is so confident that she bats like a celebrity.

Capsey was praised by former England captain and batter CharlotteEdwards.

Being able to get the side home is something I look out for in a batter and that will give her extra confidence. Sophia Dunkley will look at it and say that she should have done that, but she didn't.

It has been a good series for England's youngsters, who were playing in the absence of some of the world's best players.

Kemp smashed 51 not out from just 36 balls in the second T20.

"We didn't get the experience of those senior players in some areas," Hartley said. The way the teenagers have stepped up has been amazing. There are positive signs.
