The shift from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake has been completed by the company.

The plan was years in the making and has gone through a lot of testing. After being one of the most talked about events of the year, it finally occurred. Now that the event is over, the technical hurdles presented by the transition seem to have been solved.

Sean Ford said that ethereum has a chance to be a productive, aligned, forward looking technology compared to one that was roots in high energy consumption and below par from a transaction or cost perspective I think the industry has a good chance.

There are many more improvements to be made to the platform in the future. Vitalik Buterin said in July that the network would undergo further updates.

According to Steven Goldfeder, co-founder and CEO of Offchain Labs, one of the advantages of the merge is that it has a long technical road map. We are never done. Over time, the technology will improve. We will continue to improve.
