After a day of confusion, a fireball seen over the north of the UK has been confirmed as a meteorite.
The fireball was visible in the sky above northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland just after 10 pm on Wednesday.
It traveled over 300 km above Wales, the Irish Sea and Belfast before crashing into the Atlantic.
It was thought that it was space junk from Musk's Starlink satellite programme. The theory was withdrawn after more data was collected.
The network has analysed it from many more angles. A meteorite is definitely what it is. A piece of an asteroid broke off. It came in at a low altitude.
He said it probably ended up between 50 and 100 km off the island. Now, it will be at the bottom of the ocean.
He said the fireball was initially mistaken for a space junk because it was travelling more slowly than a typical meteorite, and that it broke up higher than a meteorite.
The way we broke it up was what threw us off. I thought it was too slow for a meteorite.
The speed was 31,950mph, which is1-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-6556 is1-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-65561-6556 Our first thoughts.
The fireball was thought to be a Starlink satellite burning up in the sky.
He said that they looked at any possibilities for space debris. We weren't able to give space debris. It was not from the company. The two Starlink satellites that were due to de-orbit wouldn't have come down in the UK. They came down over the country.
About 800 people saw the fireball. The majority of people who saw it had a rare experience. The way it broke up was odd.
The network said that the fireball over Northern Ireland and Scotland was a meteorite. The fireball that was observed above the UK lasted over 20 seconds and traveled north- west.
