According to a source, Adams will miss the rest of the season due to an injury he sustained in the opener.

A source confirmed that the Seattle Seahawks plan to put Adams on injured reserve on Thursday and that they will sign a player from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad to take his place.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection was held without a sack in 12 games for the first time in his career, but he was expected to bounce back. In the second quarter of Seattle's 17-16 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night, Adams was carted off the field after he was injured.

Pete Carroll said on his weekly radio show that Adams would have to get some work on the injury, but he stopped short of saying that the season was over.

Adams will have season-ending surgery and will be replaced by Seattle.

He's hurt, according to Carroll. He hurt his knee and will have to have some work done. I know it's serious but I don't know how much. It just makes you sad. He is a big fan of the game. He's going to be missed so much.

Adams left the field with obvious pain in his left leg after delivering a hit on Wilson that forced a third-down incompletion. He was helped onto an injury cart after being examined. Adams appeared to burst out in anger as he was driven into the locker room.

The quad muscle to the top of the kneecap is what Adams has injured.

He can't deal with the fact that he is such a fan of the game of football, and he just can't figure it out. "On my radio show, I said that." During the game, he had his mom and dad in the locker room to help him through it, but it was difficult. I hope people send love to him.

Adams had three tackles before he got hurt. Josh Jones took his place for the rest of the game. Ryan Neal is a safety choice in Seattle. Neal started four times in 2020 while Adams only started once. Sean Desai, who is now on Seattle's defensive staff, was the defensive coordinators for the Chicago Bears.

In his first three seasons with the New York Jets, Adams missed only two games due to injury, but in his first two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, he missed nine games due to injury. Adams broke a finger on his left hand in training camp this summer and missed a few days. He had surgery on his fingers in the past.

Seattle's new defense, with its emphasis on split- safety looks, was supposed to put Adams in a good position for a bounce-back. Adams was named to the Pro Bowl for the third year in a row after setting an NFL record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5. He tore his shoulder labrum in the 12th game of his zero-sack 2021.

Adams spoke last week for the first time since his latest finger injury, saying that the new defense puts him in position to make plays.

He said he's back in his element. I think I'm back playing defense.

The Jets traded Adams to the Seattle for a package that included two first-round picks. They signed him to a four-year, $70 million extension last summer, making him the highest-paid safety in the league.
