I jumped on the plane that flew between Boston and New York. There will be flights between New York and Washington, D.C. in the near future. I had the chance to chat with the pilots after taking off from Boston Harbor and landing in New York. They talked about what it's like to operate a plane that spends some of its time on the ground and is officially operating as a boat under marine rules and restrictions.

There is a new service between New York and Boston.

The flight to New York City took about 75 minutes, which is half the time it takes to travel via traditional methods. The route between the two cities can only be completed in about three and a half hours.

There is a downside to Tailwind. One-way flights start at $395 and can go up to $775. Business travelers and people with last-minute booking situations are the target of this service.

I wouldn't think of myself using this service a lot. The experience is unparalleled as an AvGeek. Look for yourself.
