Someone is hanging up a racket. After his appearance at the Laver Cup next week, Roger will stop playing tennis.

It was a "bittersweet decision" to walk away from tennis after 24 years, according to a voice message posted on the social networking site.

There have been injuries that have kept him out of tournaments. Last year, he lost in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

There was hope that he would return to the tour in a couple of years. The 41-year-old told Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger in June that he wanted to return to the court on a regular basis next year.

He said that he hadn't planned much more than the two places. The season is over regardless of where you live. I need to get fit again so that I can train properly. I can decide how many tournaments I play once I have done that.

On the heels of Serena Williams' appearance at the U.S. Open in what is expected to be her final tournament, Roger Federer announced his retirement from tennis. She was defeated in the third round.

The era of men's tennis has been defined by the dominance of three players. They've won 63 Grand Slam singles titles together.

He became the first man to win 20 Grand Slam titles when he defeated Marin ili in the Australian Open final.

The last victory for the man was at the Swiss indoors. He didn't play in a Grand Slam final in 2019. He lost a five-set thriller to the Serbian player.

The record for most Wimbledon singles titles by a man is eight, and the second-most wins on the tour is 103 by JimmyConnors.

The O2 Arena in London will be the site of the opening ceremony of the 2022.
