Look at the hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts.
The updated notch replacement, consisting of hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts digitally merged withiniOS to create the Dynamic Island, is given a closer look in the teardown. In order to free up space in the TrueDepth camera system and eliminate the notch, Apple has put the proximity sensor under the display.
The proximity sensor, which can detect when the phone is flat on a table, in your pocket, or being held during a phone call, was housed in the notch along with components for Face ID.
The updated rear cameras, a closer look at the earpiece, and more are shown. iFixit will be able to provide a more detailed understanding of what has changed on the latest models of the device.
